The warmest, softest, coziest quilt EVER!

Ya'll.

I have made THE warmest, softest, coziest quilt EVER! And I can't believe I haven't shared the deets with you yet.

Zoom in to see those beautiful hand quilted lines.

I really wish you could touch your screen and feel for yourself how soft this quilt is. No picture can really relay that. You'll just have to take my word for it.

The quilt was a project that I made as a Kokka Ambassador. Kokka is a Japanese textile manufacturer founded in 1948 focusing on printed fabrics. Kokka USA, Inc. imports and distributes Japanese fabrics on a wholesale scale to North America and it is my job to get the word out that you can purchase these beautiful Japanese fabrics online and shipped from California. It is also my pleasure to introduce the fabrics to you and let you know my thoughts on them as well as give you ideas on how to use them.

Perfect for keeping warm at a local brewery on top of our mountain.

For this recent project, I chose to work with corduroy. I felt that it would make a warm and cozy quilt just in time for the winter months. Never, in my wildest dreams did I imagine the corduroy would be so soft to the touch. Not only was it soft, but it was supple and almost flowy. Given it's softness, I felt it was best paired with a Fableism woven. And to make the warmest quilt ever, I tucked pillowy, warm, Quilters Dream wool batting inside. Let me just say, it was the perfect combination!

Kokka corduroy + Fableism = dreamy
The back. Complete with a snippet of the selvage to document the manufacturer.

To finish this quilt, I chose to hand quilt it with sashiko thread. Hand quilting with the combination of Kokka corduroy and wool batting was a dream come true. In fact, I may use wool for my practice sandwiches in my beginning hand quilting classes. The needle glides through the layers like butter. Seriously!

Since making this quilt, I have touted its merits at all of my classes and the first thing students say when they get their hands on it is "oh, wow!" this is so soft! I have carried this quilt on trips to keep me warm and use it nearly every night since the weather here in Virginia has turned colder (there may have even been a few tug of wars involving the rights to this quilt).

Stay warm and quilt on.

xo,

Tanna
